The Royal and Ancient

Or the R & A as it is known is headquartered at the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in St Andrews, Scotland. The R & A has been in conjunction with the USGA since 1952 to create the overall Governing and Official Rules of Golf.

PGA of America

It is important to note that the PGA of America is the organization that constitutes Teaching Professionals not the PGA Tour.

US PGA Tour

The PGA Tour is Headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. The PGA Tour is a non-profit organization who’s mission is to expand the US Tour brand domestically as well as around the world, all while maintaining the highest professional standards. Tim Finchem is the Commissioner of the Tour and has been since 1994.

The Champions Tour

The Champions Tour is a property of The PGA Tour and has been exploding in popularity in recent years with players like Mark Calcavecchia, Tom Lehman and Freddy Couples meeting the age requirement (50 yrs or more) and having fantastic Champions Tour Careers.

The WEB.com Tour

This is also a property of the PGA Tour and is considered the PGA proving grounds where players develop their talent against very high level competition and play for considerable purses. The Top 25 Players each year get at least a limited exemption to the PGA Tour for the following year.

Ladies PGA

The LPGA is the world’s leading tour for women and is structured very similar to the PGA Tour.

European Tour

The Euro Tour is the second most influential tour in the world. Many of the World’s Top Players compete full time on the Euro Tour and some maintain dual memberships with the PGA Tour in America.

The PGA Tour FedEx Cup Standings

The FedEx Cup is a Year Long race to a $10,000,000 Grand Prize. Points are accumulated using a formula for ranking strength of field and distributing those points to the top players each week on the PGA Tour. Culminating in a set of playoff events at the end of the season where by players are eliminated during three playoff events and the Tour Championship event finally determines the winner of the grand prize.

USGA

The United States Golf Association is the governing body of Amateur Golf in the United States. The US Open is a USGA Property and is not the property of the PGA Tour.

The Golf Channel

The Golf Channel is now the property of NBC Sports. For many years the Golf Channel was an independent entity, the primary investor was Arnold Palmer.

The Masters

There simply isn’t a more important word in golf other than The Masters. Each spring the iconic tournament is played in Augusta, GA at The Augusta National Golf Club. Bobby Jones, regarded as the most influential Amateur Golfer in History built the picturesque course on the grounds of a rare flower preserve in the early 1930’s.

The Masters marks the official start of spring in the golf world and every true golfer understands the history, the sportsmanship and the deep tradition.
